Field Trials and Hunt Tests

Field trials and hunt tests are designed to test the skills of hunting dogs--doing what they are bred to do. The tests and trials are divided by the primary skill a particular group of dogs does while hunting: retrieve, point, flush or scent.​​


While Field Trials have a competitive component -- only those placing get points toward a title -- Hunt Tests are a pass/fail test. In a test, the dog needs to perform and pass certain requirements for the particular hunting group.
