DISCLAIMER: Some of our members
have offered to share information about the various breeds of dogs.
The name of each breed is a link to the AKC National Club for that particular
breed, and may be followed by a member's website, and other information.

responsibility for any animal found through this information.
*The Idaho Capital City Kennel Club
condemns all substandard kennels which reflect poorly on the vast majority
of responsible
breeders who have demonstrated by their actions that they are in compliance
with existing animal welfare laws and regulations, and that they truly care
about the health and welfare of their animals.*
Take your time to be sure of
the basic personality and temperament of a particular breed - some dogs
are very active, some are couch potatoes, some dogs are very strong willed,
others are laid back. Ask about basic characteristics that can be predicted
about the breed, eventual
adult
size,
grooming needs, activity level and exercise requirements, whether they
tend to be good with small children, how sociable they are with strangers,
and so on. One major cause of problems is choosing a type of dog
that isn't compatible with your needs or your situation. Remember
too, both puppies and adult dogs take time and patience, and they need
to be taught appropriate behavior - plan on finding a good puppy kindergarten
or beginning obedience class.
